Empowering Farmers with Modern Solutions

Agro-COM FTC Introduces Technology-Based Maize Shredding Machinery, A First in the Somali Region

Agro-COM Farming Technology Cooperative continues to lead the way in agricultural innovation with the introduction of advanced maize shredding machinery in the Somali region. This cutting-edge technology makes Agro-COM the first farming cooperative in the region to adopt such machinery, designed specifically for the efficient peeling and processing of maize. The maize shredder machinery represents a significant step forward in modernizing maize production, offering local farmers a faster and more efficient means of preparing their crops for sale and distribution.

The maize shredder has the capacity to prepare an impressive 100 bags of 50 kg maize per hour, drastically reducing the time and labor involved in traditional maize processing. Previously, maize peeling was a labor-intensive task that limited farmers’ productivity, but with this new machinery, Agro-COM is transforming the way maize is processed. Farmers now have the ability to scale up their operations, meet growing market demands, and improve the quality and consistency of their maize output.

Beyond enhancing productivity, the adoption of this technology marks a turning point for Agro-COM in its mission to empower farmers through innovative solutions. The shredder not only increases efficiency but also ensures a more streamlined supply chain from the field to the market. Agro-COM FTC remains committed to investing in advanced agricultural tools and practices that make farming more sustainable, profitable, and accessible for local farmers. This technology-driven approach aligns with the cooperative’s broader vision of driving economic growth and food security in the Somali region.

By introducing the maize shredder machinery, Agro-COM FTC is providing farmers with the tools they need to thrive in an increasingly competitive agricultural market. This initiative further demonstrates the cooperative’s leadership in advancing agricultural technologies, making farming more efficient and effective for smallholder and commercial farmers alike.
